Some Guys Have All the Luck


On this date in 1971, Christy Hosterman

made me the luckiest guy in the world.

11:00 am. Stanford Chapel. Two kids just a couple of weeks out of college. A little scared but anxious to begin a life together.

49 years later, I love her even more and her smile is even more beautiful than it was back then. We've had three amazing daughters, four wonderful grandkids, and a life full of laughter and joy and love.

Today is our 49th anniversary, and I count my blessings every day.

Some guys have all the luck.

Gary Cavalli, the former Sports Information Director and Associate Athletic Director at Stanford University, was co-founder and executive director of the college football bowl game played in the Bay Area, and previously was co-founder and President of the American Basketball League.
